Victorian Antique "Nez Pince" Eye Glasses for a Woman, VERY RARE WITH CHAIN
AND PIN LOCKET TO HOLD IT
DESCRIPTION: Scans show it all.....a complete pair of RARE "NEZ PINCE" antique
Victorian eye glasses. As typical with this style, these are held by pressure
against the nose, without side frames.
Regular NEZ PINCE style glasses are fairly scarce. They were popular with the
upper classes towards the end of the 1800's to the first couple of decades of
the 1900's. They were therefore only used for a limited time. THIS TYPE WAS
FAVORED BY PRESIDENTS TEDDY ROOSEVELT AND WOODROW WILSON.
Most of these hung by a strap around the neck. The hole where the strap
attached is on the side. THIS PAIR IS RARER THAN MOST AS THEY NOT ONLY STILL
HAVE THE FINE CHAIN, BUT THEY EVEN STILL HAVE THE ORIGINAL "LOCKET" THAT HOLDS
THE FINE CHAIN, PREVENTING THE GLASSES FROM FALLING TO THE FLOOR. The locket
pins onto the lapel or other clothing. I HAVE NEVER EVEN SEEN A PAIR WITH THIS
ORIGINAL GOLD CHAIN AND HOLDER.
THIS IS PROBABLY YOUR ONLY CHANCE TO GET SUCH A COMPLETE, ORIGINAL PAIR.
Lenses could be changed to use these if desired, or they could obviously
become part of your collection or for use with theatrical costumes.
