In the early 1870's Willis and Gilbert S. Sawen were wholesale and retail
druggists located at 171 Genesee St. in Utica, NY.
The company at that time was called Dr. W. Sawens & Co. The firm would be
relocated in 1878 to 183 Genesee St.
By 1886 Gilbert was out and the name changed in 1886 to Dr. Sawens Medical
Company.
Products that the Dr. Sawen & CO. produced were Sawens New Blood Remedy,
Sawens Cough Balsam,
Sawens Magic Nerve Pills, Sawens Cordial Elixir, Sawens Magic Balm, Sawens Oil
Liniment, Sawens Arnica Liniment,
Sawens Heave Powders, Sawens U.T.K. Powders, Sawens Hoof Ointment, Sawens
Horse Blister, Sawens Pervious Plasters,
Saens Worm Candies, Sawens Cough Remedy, Sawens Poormans Cough Cure,
Anderson's Buchu Compound,
King's Magic toothache Cure, King's Corn Cure and U.T.K. Hop and Iron Bitter
