This is a fascinating item: an original antique catalog of architectural
elements from Hall & Garrison dated 1894/5. This is NOT a replica, it is an
original from the period.
It has brown board covers with gilt stamping with the title 'Hall & Garrison,
Philadelphia * New York, Illustrated Catalogue of Dec-co-re-o patented Sept 19,
93, Jany. 16 94 and Composition Ornaments for Interior Decoration.' The covers
are coming apart, held only by a few threads. Inside there are many plates
with illustrations of the ornaments on offer, as well as some scenes of
decorative interiors. I've included as many as I could - they are absolutely
fascinating! The plates are numbered, and apparently some are missing, because
the numbers skip. Please look at the photos closely to appreciate the amount
of detail. There are also two typed letters tucked in also, as shown.
The illustrations include high Victorian looks as well as the brand-new Art
Nouveau look. It's a fascinating snapshot of the high style of the 1890s in
the original document. It's hard to know how to price this because there are
so few comparable examples!
